New York Magazine/Vulture Strong performances and seamless, probing dialogue generate sequences of subtly shifting emotions, filling each scene with a palpable sense of tension and discomfort. Sep 12, 2012 Full Review Eric Kohn indieWire The source of suspense lies entirely within one character's fragile mind. Rated: B+ Sep 12, 2012 Full Review Richard Brody The New Yorker The young director Sophia Takal's shrewdly psychological first feature is anchored in the milieu of young creative strivers and the emotional strains that arise from their ambitions. Sep 12, 2012 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest Articularly acute as a character study of a young woman overcome with emotions she doesn't entirely understand and yet a film that grows well beyond the frame, lingering in thoughts long after leaving the theater. Dec 20, 2018 Full Review Glenn Heath Jr. House Next Door The sudden tonal shift toward the end may rub some viewers the wrong way, but it proves Takal has much more on her mind than the simple character study of young jerks in love. Nov 15, 2011 Full Review Ron Wilkinson Monsters and Critics A slow but sure essay on the strengths and weaknesses of love and possession. Rated: 7/10 Jul 26, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Abound with interesting ideas, especially as far as music and sound go, but fails to be a wholly interesting piece. Long, slow, drawn out, and not giving us anything to look at in the process. It's a piece of Impressionism, perhaps for lack of a budget, thus the context of what our characters are framed against is obscured. Robin is perfectly pesty, just the right intrusion to interrupt these Brooklynites' getaway. Performances are perfect, Brooklynites have that quiet, passive snobbery about them. Genevieve (Kate Lyn Sheil) can tell a thousand stories with the being of her face alone. Robin (Sophia Takal) has just the right mannerisms to make us feel bad for her simplemindedness. So much that Genevieve devolving into paranoia over Sebastian having an affair with her seems misplaced. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Sophia Takal presents an entirely unique glimpse into female psychology in this uncomfortable and oddly intense independent film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The mumblecore dialogue can be annoying, but along with the excellent score, it actually serves this tense haziness well. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautiful blend of realism and psycho-sexual torment. "Green" gives life qualities to its hipster-esque characters, making them come off as both annoying yet irreconcilably human. Behind the lens Sophia Takal shows us the power of the Canon 5D camera, showing off beautiful landscapes. In front of the lens Sophia plays Robin, an curious dynamo any man (...or woman) can't help but be attracted to. That attraction is the soul of "Green", as the other leads fight her addiction as they try to solidify their bond as a couple. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
