Jo Standish, 27, helps run a small private airline company in Los Angeles, 1977, with her fiancé, Richard. Jo's first love is aviation and she is an accomplished pilot, but struggles to find the opportunities she desires. Their business faces its own problems as Richard's father threatens to pull his investment and close their hangar. When her beloved grandfather, Bert, dies, she puts everything on hold and races back home to Molokai, Hawaii to support her grandmother, Meli, who raised her. Once home, Jo discovers Meli has Lewy body dementia. Surrounded by her dynamic village of authors, artists, musicians and friends, Meli is happy and comfortable; but as her seemingly long-hidden memories begin to surface, Jo suspects there are family secrets still unknown to her and possibly a mysterious connection to the world's most famous aviatrix. Caught between all this could mean for her and her fiancé's flying business and protecting the privacy of those she loves, Jo must make a difficult decision regarding this newfound revelation.

Amelia Earhart is still in the news and this film unpacks a very interesting “what if” story! Beautifully shot with fabulous performances by Wendie Malick and a supporting cast of Hawaiian actors including a fabulous ensemble of ex-pats living in Malachi, Hawaii 1977. It’s a film for the entire family. Shout out to Juliet Mills, Ray Abruzzo and Max Caulfield, who also bring texture and authenticity to the storytelling.

7000 Miles is a great movie for all ages, with wonderful Hawaiian scenery and culture, great acting (love anything with Wendy Malick!) and terrific directing (the incomparable Amy Glazer!). With all the recent news and interest in Amelia Earhart, you have to watch this movie as it takes you on a journey to explore "what if?", weaving a deeply engrossing and heart tugging story out of a possible ending to the question of what happened when Earhart's plane disappeared over the Pacific.

Imagine if the mystery of what happened to aviator Amelia Earhart, who disappeared over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to circumnavigate the globe, were to be finally solved. Set the mystery in a dreamy Hawaiian location: and here you have it, 7000 MILES, inviting us to bathe in the beautiful island landscape as the mystery unfolds. As with THE DESCENDANTS, this movie made me want to jump in my own twin engine and join these characters as they discover for themselves what really matters.

Sweet movie with nothing scary or violent, a bit corny but sometimes that's what you want! Brilliant cinematography, gorgeous shots of Hawaii and some lovely music. Wendie Malick is so believable.
