Srivathsan Nadadhur The Hindu Despite its shortcomings, 8 Vasantalu isn’t a lazy effort. It has a surreal visual texture (cinematography by Vishwanath Reddy) and a story that has a lot to unpack; just that the balance doesn’t come through effectively. Jun 23, 2025 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix 8 Vasantalu makes an effort to be an epic love story, but the movie's editing and narrative are too choppy. Most of this drama is dreadfully boring. shravani e 8 Vasantalu is not just a film; it feels like an open journal written with honesty and kindness. Shuddhi’s story - a daughter raised by her mother after losing her army father, who grows into both a writer and a martial artist — is told with so much clarity that it never feels forced. Every scene is shaped with patience, as if the writer wanted to let us breathe with the character instead of rushing her forward. What struck me most is the way the writer and director phanindra gaaru thinks in layers. He doesn’t just show grief - he shows how grief shapes habits, how habits shape resilience, and how resilience eventually blossoms into freedom. He explains these things cleanly and with compassion, never in a harsh tone, never judging his own character. Even when Shuddhi falters, the narration treats her with gentleness, like a teacher who corrects without shaming. As a woman, I connected deeply to this. I have faced moments where life kept testing me with relocations, responsibilities, and silent struggles. In Shuddhi’s eight “springs,” I saw the truth that healing does not come all at once. It comes in seasons - through writing, through discipline, through the courage to love and also to let go. The film becomes a mirror, reminding me that choosing myself, again and again, is not selfish but necessary. The beauty of 8 Vasantalu lies in its clean storytelling. Dialogues feel like handwritten notes in a diary - simple yet piercing. The director’s way of explaining life’s phases is kind, almost like he is whispering to the audience: your sorrow is seen, your silence is valid, and you will find your spring. For me, this film felt like a sorrowing hug - not the kind that takes pain away, but the kind that says, “I know. I’ve been there too. And you will bloom again.” Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/26/25 Full Review prasanna kumar d To 29.07.2025 Mr. Phanindra Narsetti – Director & Writer Visakhapatnam Ms. Ananthika Sanilkumar – Lead Actress and 8 Vasantalu Team Subject: Heartfelt Appreciation for 8 Vasantalu Movie in Telugu Language Dear Mr. Narsetti and Ms. Sanilkumar, I hope this message finds you both in great spirits. I am writing to express my sincere admiration for your beautiful film, 8 Vasantalu, which released on June 20, 2025. This film left a lasting impression with its poetic storytelling, evocative visuals, and deeply affecting emotional moments. Firstly, Ms. Sanilkumar, your portrayal of Shuddhi Ayodhya is nothing short of remarkable. Despite being just seventeen at the time of signing the role, you delivered a performance marked by emotional depth, grace, and maturity. Your expressive presence and conviction brought both strength and vulnerability to the character—and truly anchored the narrative. Mr. Narsetti, as the writer director, your creative vision shaped this film into an introspective journey. The narrative’s poetic cadence, layered symbolism across eight springs of transformation, and strong thematic focus on self discovery set 8 Vasantalu apart in Telugu cinema. While critics noted the pace slows in the second half, many also recognized your lucid ambition, meaningful dialogue, and the sincerity of your artistic intention. The technical virtues of the film deserve special mention as well: Vishwanath Reddy’s cinematography renders Ooty, Kashmir, and Varanasi exquisitely, lifting every frame into something painterly and immersive. Hesham Abdul Wahab’s music and score weave seamlessly into the narrative, enhancing the emotional beats with subtle lyricism. Together with the entire cast and crew—including supporting performers, the production design, editing, and choreography—you created a film that genuinely feels like a cinematic poem. While some reviews mentioned uneven moments in character consistency or pacing in the second half, the general consensus highlights the film’s visual beauty, strong lead performance, and thoughtful dialogue as standout elements. In summary, 8 Vasantalu is a feel good, aspirational film—visually rich, narratively poetic, and emotionally resonant. It’s a rare achievement to balance artful storytelling with heartfelt characters, and I want to congratulate you both for bringing such a project so beautifully to the screen. Thank you for your dedication, creativity, and hard work. My heartfelt appreciation extends to everyone involved. I look forward to your future work with eager anticipation.
