The relationship between a respected yet domineering judge, Mauro Ponticelli (Michel Piccoli), and his restless sister, Marta (Anouk Aimée), descends into uncharted territory when Marta begins having mental problems. What is Mauro's solution in dealing with her mental health? He hires an actor, Giovanni (Michele Placido), to convince her to kill herself. But the plan backfires when Mauro becomes envious of his sister's new relationship, subsequently exposing his own psychological problems.

Serge Daney Cahiers du Cinéma Certainly, the filmmaker's talent remains intact and this Leap Into the Void is rich in filmic events big and small, which make it never boring, but rather fastidious.
