This film seems to say that Hindi Cinema is developing fast. Forget songs and dance, the film is compact and fantastically written and casted. Only problem is with the old style editing including some unnecessary slow motions and some repeated boring establishing shots over Naseeruddin Shah. Elsewhere, the film is engaging and action-packed.

"A Wednesday" is both a well-paced thriller and a thought-provoking social commentary. It is the rare Bollywood movie that is devoid of song and dance, the perfect runtime, and grounded in reality. I enjoyed this movie because it kept me on the edge of my seat and I never knew what turn the story would take. The strong lead performances also kept me more than engaged in the dialogue-heavy moments. It's an unconventional movie in the world of Indian cinema that is worth checking out due to the big and challenging ideas it presents.

A Wednesday is a fast-paced action thriller about a terrorist bomber with ulterior motives. The plot centers around two strong protagonists in a frantic game of cat and mouse. Yet, from a technical standpoint, the movie is rather flawed: it features too many repetitive shots and tired camera techniques, mediocre editing, and weak fight scenes. These drawbacks simply don't match the quality of the great pacing, the strong performances of the main cast, and the deeper themes. The movie raises important and timely questions about terrorism and how the "common man" (= name of the protagonist) relates to acts of terrorism. My notes on A Wednesday ~ movie Rewatched it because of that one line at the end. Humans tend to search for the mazhab in the name. I wanted to see how they masked his religion plus I love the movie. The J and K bag, the azaan type background score , the whole mystery of the man who is always lurking in the shadows of his men etc to give him that terrorist touch but when his wife called she did not have any Muslim twang to her language, she sounded Hindu. I thought it could also be that he had a love marriage and he is a Muslim. It mildly occurred to me that he could be of some other religion but I discarded that...too much passion and effort...did not seem Christian atleast. I now realize as I write my thoughts what I did not back then... religion is so deeply rooted in us that even a non religious person like me, is hoodwinked into this whole game sublimely. I love the nuances of the movie...it hits tg right spots and that also makes u realise when u have a great story , you need great actors not a star cast and the movie will work.
