Jacinda V I'm not usually huge into zombie films, but I have been following Vegan Zombie for a long time. I love that there is now a full-length film with a storyline like this, involving veganism and choosing compassion in this way. For being a low-budget film, I was really surprised by how good the zombie effects were and how many people are in the film. I am so excited for more people to watch this! Please give it a watch:) RIP Indy xo Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/25 Full Review Ben B I had such a great time with this movie. The story is original, but also full of familiar, effective, creepy zombie elements. Don’t worry gore fans, you are going to get what you’re looking for! The special effects and make up are incredible. The drone footage is absolutely beautiful, particularly a shot of the entire city where sunlight shines through only one part of the clouds. That shot is mesmerizing. You can tell that the filmmakers love film. The score is very effective and the cinematography is wonderful. Watch the visuals when a house is on fire—eerie visuals in the shots. This is a micro budget, Indie film, and I’m glad that we see so many committed actors on screen along with a talented crew. But the best actor by far, is the dog. Personally, I would have loved to be location supervisor for this film. It’s such a beautiful part of the country. Actor/Writer/ Director Chris has made a powerful film with a wonderful message about compassion— even in times of terror and horror. This passion project was well worth the wait, and you will never guess the ending. See it soon! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/25 Full Review A M. What I would’ve liked to see from this movie was more well-developed characters. I went in knowing it was a lower-budget film and tried to keep an open mind, but many of the characters felt flat and acted similarly, which made it hard to connect with them. From my perspective, it didn’t really feel like the girls liked each other much—I know for sure if I was with a group of my friends and one of us got bit by a zombie, that nobody in the car would even think to complain about having to call for help; and as the movie progressed, it felt like the girls were just there as accessories to the male characters, which was disappointing. Strong, well-rounded characters can really elevate a movie, and giving more time to develop them could have helped tremendously. Also, some of the dialogue felt dated to me-- as a Gen Z viewer, it honestly didn’t feel natural (some of the dialogue felt really unnatural at points, I can't recall any of my friends or other people my age talking in the way the characters did), which made it harder to get invested in the story. Overall, I think the film had potential, but it didn’t quite reach it for me. I really wanted to enjoy this movie, and this review isn’t intended to be harsh, but I was a little let down by the characters. :/ Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/04/25 Full Review Audience Member This independently produced film invokes the same low budget but loads of passion by the filmmaker vibe one still gets from the original Night of the Living Dead. Similar to that film, this one's low/no budget cannot help but be noticed and yet thanks to the filmmaker's passion the audience is willing to go along for the ride. This film's underlying message is an important one and the roots of the zombie apocalypse it depicts rings far closer to the truth on how it would happen than most stories of this type. My only critique as a narrative film is that I wished more was done to show the bond between the main character and his dog Indy. Knowing that the writer/director and Indy had a real life bond allowed me to emotionally connect with them however I'm not sure if viewers who are unaware of this fact will feel as satisfied in that relationship. Which is important to the end of the film. The choice that Harley makes at the end of the movie is heartbreaking yet brings home the message of the film. It is a decision that I know the filmmaker would make in real life (as would I) but I just wish more of that bond was shown on screen for those who are unaware of the real life story. This film is a must see for anyone who enjoys zombie films and lovers of independent low budget films made by people with a vision, passion and with something to say. I enjoyed every moment of this film both as a horror movie fan and a fellow vegan! Outstanding film with an important message. It was so lovely to see your precious dog, Indy as well.
