Ellie S This is like the TV film they were trying to film in 'Scrooged' with the Rockettes and circus performers... So many questions, Why is the ghost of Christmas past got a constant wind machine? Why are there Chinese lanterns in Fezziwig's Christmas party? It feels like a spoof parody, but it's so serious... I'm confused Anyways Merry Christmas x Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/12/23 Full Review Paul S I love this version of a timeless classic. If you enjoy musicals and wonderful dance numbers, this is the version of "A Christmas Carol" for you. I watch it every year. And the movie soundtrack is played every Christmas season. (Listen to the lyrics of the songs, perfect for the spirit of the season.) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/10/23 Full Review Joel H Is it possible for a musical to have too much music? That's what I kept asking myself as I watched A Christmas Carol: The Musical. Plus, some of the musical numbers really don't fit with what is going on. Maybe if I saw this production on a stage, it would be more impressive, but the acting, makeup, and visual effects feel a little corny. While I like Kelsey Grammer, his portrayal of Scrooge mostly just consists of squinting, and with the exception of Jane Krakowski, I wasn't really a fan of the Christmas spirits. I can see why some people might like this adaptation, but I thought it was ho-hum(bug). Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/03/23 Full Review johann m Based on the 1843 novella of the same name by Charles Dickens, which also inspired a 1994 stage musical by Alan Menken and Lynn Ahrens, this musical starring Kelsey Grammer is yet another adaptation of the famous tale of the old bitter miser who is given a chance for redemption when he is haunted by ghosts on Christmas Eve. The songs are catchy and wonderfully performed by the entire cast and the sets and costumes are just brilliant! Some scenes are just so comical and the dancing complements the very familiar tale we all love. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review steve d The performances are good but the music is terrible. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a lovely musical version of the Christmas classic. Excellent cast. Kelsey Grammer delivers a fine performance as Scrooge.
