Holly-Lyn L I felt like it wasn't the fun family holiday movie I expected. It wasn't upbeat it had a more depressing edge with religion crammed down my throat. Maggie's family visited brother and daughter on Christmas who were mourning his wife and daughters mom's passing. Clearly some life events need to take a normal course without cobtrolling Maggie to the rescue who comes with her own set of problems. Too complicated and downtrodden to be a fun family holiday movie. The lights, the scenery and the town were beautiful and this had the potential to knock it out of the park but it failed miserably. The result turned this C- movie into a D- one. As a huge fan of Marc Blucas, I was especially disappointed to see him uncomfortable in his own skin as he attempted to make the movie work. The only difference was there was no collection plate passed around. I'm as religious as the next person but this was over the top. If this is the type of movies she will doing from now on, I won't be watching. I watch movies for entertainment. I can go to church if I want to listen to one scripture after another. I'm sure there's an audience for this and I hope this movie finds it - but the story isn't just slow, it's empty. Hollow. Even the old, dull platitudes seem worse with the plastic delivery.
