Jens B 🎃 A wonderful representative of vampire films and another example that even in digital cinema, it’s possible to create visuals dripping with atmosphere. What captivated me most were the numerous dualities that the film explores: man – woman, adulthood – adolescence, morality – sin, day – night, Iran (origin) – California (new home), sex – abstinence, grief – happiness (though only induced by drugs). 🛹 The film feels longer than it actually runs, and in this case, I mean that as a compliment. If you allow yourself to get immersed in Amirpour’s story and style, you’re transported into a world full of contrasts that feels both familiar and strange. All of this is complemented by a carefully selected soundtrack and memorable dance scenes. A clear recommendation for anyone looking for something different in the horror genre. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/29/24 Full Review Raleigh R Yep. It it what it is, a melodramatically sad masterpiece. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review Querent M This is a near perfect film. Just an absolutely fresh take on the vampire genre. Excellent direction and acting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/12/23 Full Review j s Thinking would have spoiled it however an excuse to watch it more than once which I can say thinking or not a desire will arise too see it again. When the spirit of a cat is let out the next meal not at home seeks out romance as in who do I think for this blessing? Unfortunately the littler box back at home s left empty other than that of the father covering up the illegal ownership of the feline with his opium habit when the local mosque would have blessed it by suggesting the proper incense for the temporary containment... well fed and well papered a black and white street cat cannot help his desire and she having dwelling alone with humans has come to know their ways as far as the Western paradise putty in her paws in the desert she forms the man she wants with fur as her burka and nakedness on her mind who can distinguish vampire human and cat two sons one viscous and cruel sinking his teeth in his fathers meal while the younger naive one inherits the earth and only delivers it right back to the true heir wherein the heroine saves the entire fortune just as the Matri returns home from late night prayer to watch out for just such a thing entering the city centre which was never a theatre for protesting ones lot or else crazy truly would be a thing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/07/23 Full Review Oksana F The movie is visually stunning and emotionally captivating with a sapid soundtrack list.
