A LEGO Brickumentary offers a cheerful overview of the popular toy that should satisfy diehard enthusiasts, but its aggressively promotional tone may turn off LEGO agnostics.

Audience Member While it does seem more promotionally driven like part of a tiny genre categorizing feature-length commercials, it does genuinely delight enthusiasts with proudness over showcasing their stuck creativity from inner imaginative youth which impresses general spectators who would also enjoy the given historical insights and Bateman's playfully gentle narration. (B+) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I really liked this documentary, even though I am not a Lego user. I was amazed at the creativity and ingenuity of all the designers, both professional and consumers. I did not feel like it was an advertisement for Lego at all. I loved that the film showed how autistic children are being helped when Lego building is socialized, as well as that the Lego company had to re-evaluate its business practices to meet customers' desires, or go out of business. One of my favorite parts was "The Art of Brick," where an artist had a gallery showing of his re-creations of about 100 classics like the Mona Lisa and The Scream, in both 2- and 3-dimensions. There were a couple of times where the film seemed to drag a little during the first half, but I was loving it by the end. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A Lego Brickumentary is the greatest documentary film I ever seen! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member For any fan of LEGOs, and those who once enjoyed creating with bricks, this film is a great way to round out one's knowledge about the scope of cultural influence the bricks have had on our global societies. For all those "top critics" that panned the movie as a corporate promotional - Newsflash: It's a product, produced by a company... how about not confusing a thoughtful exploration of how a manufactured product has influenced several generations and created a culture all its own with a treatise on the ills of capitalism? This is the kind of film that calls for some indulgence of subculture and a dose of optimism - and not its opposite. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Necessary documentary for fans of the LEGO genre Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review jeanne s Nice to see the many uses of Lego from science, art, architecture and medical points of view. Very informative. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times The documentary is so relentlessly upbeat and told with such cheerleading verve, the style and tone detract from the undeniably interesting material. This glorified infomercial from directors Kief Davidson and Daniel Junge is indoctrination. Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 31, 2015 Full Review Amberleigh Jack Stuff.co.nz Beyond the Brick is a fascinating look at those adults that have taken Lego to impressive levels of obsession. Oct 28, 2022 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse While there may be over 900,000,000 ways to fit these blocks together, exercise creativity and have fun A LEGO Brickumentary isn't nearly as inventive as its subject. Rated: 2.5/5 Feb 3, 2021 Full Review Mae Abdulbaki Movies with Mae Imagination will overflow as soon as you see it and you'll be surprised to find that it is an eccentric look at the Lego company that informs, is as layered as its bricks, and entertaining without ever becoming boring.
