Nell Minow AWFJ.org A Little Chaos is an uneven but beautifully performed story of an independent, creative woman and the garden she dreamed up for a king. Oct 4, 2021 Full Review Bill Zwecker Chicago Sun-Times True French historians should simply relax and enjoy a film that takes us on a beautifully photographed cinematic romp into a past as it likely SHOULD have been. Rated: 3/4 Aug 14, 2015 Full Review Rafer Guzman Newsday "A Little Chaos" wants us to be fascinated by a feminist who never was, then undermines her by casting an approving eye on the steamy affair she begins with her boss. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 1, 2015 Full Review Nikki Baughan AWFJ.org With its colourful characters, sumptuous scenery and a screenplay that's both funny and intelligent, A Little Chaos is a summer delight. Oct 4, 2021 Full Review Jennifer Merin AWFJ.org Little Chaos sumptuously celebrates a fictitious 17th-century woman's achievements as a landscape gardener at Versailles. Kate Winslet flowers as Sabine, and the story is engaging. Oct 4, 2021 Full Review Tom Bond One Room With A View The topic is lightweight and the script is a bit directionless, but the superb cast keep things engaging as does Peter Gregson's beautiful score. Alec B Anything remotely resembling wit would have been nice, especially considering it's already a made-up story. To waste WInslet's considerable talents on something so boring is unforgivable. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review Matt W Brilliantly done - great action and acting by Kate Winslow Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/23 Full Review Robin Michael H Kate Winslet's acting was remarkably wooden. She seemed to have the same stern middle-aged expression on her face all the time. The plot was quite interesting, but let down by Kate Winslet's acting. I have enjoyed watching her in films like 'The Reader'. There was something that did not ring true about the other roles either. Overall I thought it was a vanity production and vehicle for Kate Winslet, and although it was sufficiently entertaining for me to watch to the end, the overall experience was disappointing. I like costume dramas, my favourite being Valmont (1989). Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/30/22 Full Review Audience Member I just love this movie, the costumes, the story, Matthias, Kate, Alan, Stanley and everyone else. For me a beautiful film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review venetia a This moving is engaging and delightful. I've watched it at least five times and enjoyed it each time. I love a good romantic time period piece, and, of course, Kate Winslet always delights. It might be a little slow for some, but if you like these kind of movies, the pace won't bother you. Our heroines affair could be problematic without the understanding of her lovers prior marital arrangement. So for that reason, and for this time period it's set in, her love story is acceptable. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Top notch cast led by Kate Winslet who's hired on by landscape architect Andre LeNotre (Matthias Schoenaerts) to design one of the gardens at Versaille. Alan Rickman is delightful as Louis XIV as is Stanley Tucci as his brother. Rickman also directed and had a hand in the writing of this pleasant enough but pointless historical fantasy. I wish Netflix would get hold of Ken Russell's "The Devils" for some perspective. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
