andy p a visual treat - great cinematography! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a MUST SEE! The direction, the set, the costumes, the choreography is art at its finest. Max Casella's performance is perfection. Only weakness is a few of the actors are hard to understand, but this is not enough to dampen my enthusiasm for this exquisite production. Moira MacDonald Seattle Times Taymor's "Dream" is, in Bottom's words, a most rare vision. It flickers before us almost too quickly, passing by "swift as a shadow, short as any dream." Apr 28, 2016 Full Review Liam Lacey Globe and Mail Julie Taymor's off-the-stage filmed production of A Midsummer Night's Dream has a phantasmagoric visual fluidity that emphasizes the play's uncanny unsettling nature more than its carnival silliness. Rated: 3.5/4 Jun 19, 2015 Full Review David Rooney Hollywood Reporter For filmed theater, this is about as immersive and immediate as it gets. Jun 18, 2015 Full Review David Walsh World Socialist Web Site Imaginatively staged and exuberantly performed, Taymor's effort is largely a delight. If it does not explore the play or its themes deeply ... it certainly allows an audience to experience something of the work's relentless beauty and poetry. Feb 12, 2021 Full Review Donald J. Levit ReelTalk Movie Reviews All's well that ends well, of course, not that there was any doubt of that. The visual marvel, in fact, outweighs the tale. Jun 20, 2015 Full Review Anne Thompson Thompson on Hollywood Hyper-flexible theater star Kathryn Hunter as Puck is a marvel. Jun 18, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews
