Jeffrey W Overall, I thought this to be a wonderful Christmas film. If any one word came to mind it would be "delightful." I always enjoy films that are well cast where the actors make the characters believable, and this one did that. I love the story idea of the real Santa playing matchmaker. That's really the essence of what this is. Santa knows all and sees all and he plays matchmaker to bring the people together who need to be brought together, whether it is parent-child or future spouses. The fact that there is something mystical about Santa is one of the things that makes Christmas special, and the heart of that was definitely captured in this film. I also liked the fact that all of the main characters had flaws and the non-Santa main characters were able to make it believable, while the film, overall, didn't take itself too seriously in this area. However, the dialogue in certain areas needed to be tightened up a bit. The problem in the delivery of the lines wasn't the actor, as it was the way some of the lines of dialogue were constructed. The dialogue wasn't bad, but some of it was a little bit clumsy. There was nothing in this film that was flat out bad. Nothing that I found to be cringeworthy. I appreciate the bit of humor at the end with the two people listening in to Becky's monologue crying their eyes out and she saying "It's not that sappy!" I found that absolutely hilarious and timed appropriately. Everybody knows it was sappy, and the film wasn't afraid of making fun of itself at that point. That's one of the charms about it. I found most of the music selections to be a little bit on the flat side, but I understand that to find more appropriate music would have eaten up a lot more of the budget to secure the licensing rights. The music was okay but with a bigger budget could have been better. This was a serious drama with a little bit of humor. Well casted, above average acted, decently written, average music but overall it was delightful. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/06/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
