      Critics Consensus

Aid workers get their due in A Perfect Day, which is just different and well-acted enough to overcome its logy pace and narrative clichés.

Audience Member la pelicula es interesante, tiene lo suyo 6/10 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesantes situaciones en medio de un conflicto bélico. Buenas actuaciones de buenos actores. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A perfect day is an interesting little film. The story may not be the most original and there’s clichés but the film has excellent performances that are worth watching. The movie has a good message although the extent of it is not fully explored. Cinematography was also well done. It’s not the most involved film I’ve ever seen but it’s a good indie film with a good message and good performances with just a few slow spots. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/29/20 Full Review p p For lack of a nail... or in this case, rope. Tragically funny. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Two stars because I watched the whole thing. Otherwise much ado about nothing. War is bad, devastation, beautiful country but everyone blowing each other up and generally behaving badly. Nothing new is added here. Benicio has a wig. Tim plays himself as usual. The locals are smart and everyone else is dumb. Pointless in the end. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review abuela c BEAUTIFULLY ACTED, WONDERFUL SCRIPT. GOOD ENDING. Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald [de Aranoa is] a director at home with the small things that can make a film great -- interested in what keeps people together when everything around them is being blown apart. It's a wonderful gift. Rated: 4/5 Jun 15, 2016 Full Review David Stratton The Australian Del Toro and Robbins adroitly capture the dark humour of the drama, and their scenes together are gems of bleak comedy. Rated: 4/5 Jun 10, 2016 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald What the film does well is to immerse us in the tragic weirdness of wartime logic, where nothing works as we would expect. It's a strong, engaging film about how hard it is to wage peace. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 9, 2016 Full Review Nikki Baughan AWFJ.org Beautifully shot by cinematographer Alex Catalan... Sep 29, 2021 Full Review Joanne Laurier World Socialist Web Site The director scrubs out the particulars of the Bosnian conflict, consciously aiming to reduce it to a "timeless," universal story. Feb 26, 2021 Full Review Lucía Ros Serra Espinof The new film by Fernando León de Aranoa perfectly combines humor, drama, tenderness and thriller, without ever giving up hope for a better world.
