Abby A I enjoyed this film and would recommend it to many people! The story follows two young boys( Romeo and Gavin) in working class England. The two boys meet Morell- an eccentric man who quickly becomes infatuated with Romeos sister and decide to help him out. The humour in this film is impeccable. The dynamic between Romeo and Gavin is hilarious and other characters provide great comedic relief. Paddy Considine does an incredible job of playing the complicated character that is Morell. Aside from being funny the film does a great job of portraying the different issues affecting the young boys and gives a great snapshot into the lives of people in working class England at the time. I thought that the soundtrack was great and fitted the film well. The ending was great and hugely satisfying. Overall this film was fantastic and I would definetly recommend! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Early Shane Meadows film that you can see him developing that raw style that makes you laugh one moment only to shock you the next Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member If you had told me while I was watching the first half of this movie that the ending would be an intense denouement that would hit me like a ton of bricks and leaving me reeling and emotionally exhausted I would have thought you were a lunatic. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review simon d Shane Meadows makes films for people like me. I love the setting, the characters, the soundtrack (which is particularly good in this one), the humour, and the acting style he encourages. Paddy Considine is splendid in this, i love the fact that he seems like the most unlikely choice at first and then turns out to be perfect, which goes for most of his films. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Sort of a grim growing up tale where two bestfriends get's their friendship tested when an older fella get's involved in their lives. Paddy Considine does a fantastic job as Morell - a total looser and the main ingredient of the film. The rest of the cast is really good too. It's often mild, but some scenes are rather rugged and the evolving characters are on full view here. Observable and powerful, charming and real. The climax is great and the slow build up is both fitting and very solid. A very "British" flick that's slightly odd but at the same time very realistic. 7.5 out of 10 hip outfits.
