Scott C Thoroughly enjoyed this movie starring Kenny Leu. The producer Aimee Long did a great job taking a key complex issue and converting that into a variety of real life experiences and circumstances. Entertaining and gripping, heartfelt and action packed. Includes highly relatable emotions and thrilling moments. Must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Audience Member It is a great movie but a shit ending.. u get pulled completely into the movie and the ending is so dumb.. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member So many movies today miss the mark and have no touch with reality. The same cannot be said for "A Shot Through the Wall". First, Kenny Leu is amazing. His acting skills and ability to portray so much emotion, just through his body language, puts him square up against any actor out there. He played his part so well. At many points you just wanted to reach out and give him a hug. Then there were the others where you wanted to smack him in the back of the head. Second, the plot was so well scripted. It honestly shows how precious life is and that so much can change in the blink of an eye. When you think about it, that shot took milliseconds, and it left two families and an entire community asking the eternal burning question, why? Some have commented that there were parts of the movie that were not needed. Respectfully, I am going to disagree. I truly believe all the parts were necessary to show why Kenny's character was acting the way he was. He had to deal with the complexities of his parents, his girlfriend, his co-workers, and his so-called "friends." Without this interweaving, we would not fully understand why his character was acting the way he was. Be ready for a roller coaster of a ride and have the box of tissues ready. This movie deals with so many topics that, unfortunately, even after all these years, are still causing division. Some of the topics are clear in the movie itself. Others, maybe less noticeable, such as why has it taken so long for this "melting pot" of a country to have Asian actors/actresses in leading roles? Thankfully, the tide has been turning for the last several years, but there is much more to be done. An amazing movie that I will definitely be watching again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The director rewrites the story based on a real accident happened in NYC about a rookie cop accidentally shot a black young man from there how the two families and the cop were affected by the tragedy. The story has many turns beyond your expectation and is the best movie this year you can't miss. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Beatrice Loayza New York Times The brisk, eventful melodrama has an undeniably absorbing appeal... Jan 20, 2022 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Gripping and well-acted, the drama A Shot Through the Wall brings a somewhat flawed but mostly realistic look at how the American criminal justice system deals with a police officer who shoots and kills an unarmed Black man who wasn't committing a crime. Feb 19, 2022 Full Review Therese Lacson Nerdophiles Regardless, Long does an impressive job with an immensely difficult subject, anchored by the strength of a nuanced performance from her leading actor Kenny Leu. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 13, 2022 Full Review Monique Jones Just Add Color Overall, A Shot Through the Wall provides a great dramatized look at the issues of racial politics, particularly anti-Blackness and a need for police reform. Feb 2, 2022 Full Review Robert Denerstein Denerstein Unleashed The movie's ending feels contrived, too pat to be believable but Long sustains interest as she tries for -- without quite achieving -- a big-picture look at a hot-button issue. Jan 28, 2022 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Providing a fresh perspective on a hot-button topic, this earnest yet provocative low-budget drama about the aftermath of a police-involved shooting benefits from some intriguing character dynamics and a deeply felt performance by Kenny Leu.
