Audience Member This could've been much more interesting if handled in a different manner. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member A stark, haunting, lingering story of a young widow (Marianne Basler) caught in the merciless, gendered realities of WW II rural France. An exceptionally gallant, truly human British soldier (Gabriel Byrne) comes to love the widow. This is a war story that views troops through the all-too-honest consequence of guns, testosterone and basest forms of exploitation on women and girls, not only in World War II but today. If you can bear it, check this touching film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
