USA, January 6, 2021. US congressmen are gathered in parliament at the Capitol about to approve the election result and declare Joe Biden the winner. Less than a mile away, Donald Trump is urging the crowd to march towards the Capitol. A few hours later, 5 people are killed and 141 wounded. With Trump's political godfather, Roger Stone, as its central character, the film documents how Trump's presidential period had to find its logical endpoint with The Storm on the Capitol. The director set out to follow the 'Make America Great Again' movement and ends up a close witness to the historical events at the center of American democracy.

Ben Dowell Times (UK) The abiding sense is that this isn’t just a nation sharply split on political lines, but a country divided by blinding, fathomless hatred. Rated: 4/5 Jul 31, 2024 Full Review Lucy Mangan Guardian It comes together as a terrifying testimony to the deliberate nature of the destruction of the literal and metaphorical fabric of US politics. It is also an even more terrifying poser of the question -- what storms are yet to come? Rated: 4/5 Jul 31, 2024 Full Review Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) How Danish film-maker Christoffer Guldbrandsen persuaded this infamously private man to give him such access, from 2018 until the very last day of Trump’s presidency, is one of the film’s most impressive mysteries. Rated: 4/5 Jul 30, 2024 Full Review Barbara Ellen Observer (UK) At one point, Guldbrandsen is shown on CCTV suffering a cardiac arrest in the gym, seemingly induced by the myriad pressures of making the documentary. The result of his sacrifice is a jaw-drop of a watch. Rated: 5/5 Aug 12, 2024 Full Review Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) What Guldbrandsen’s enthralling film charts is how, in such times, idiots like Stone can be dangerous. Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Pat Stacey Irish Independent Stone is the subject of Danish filmmaker Christoffer Guldbrandsen’s jaw-dropping documentary A Storm Foretold Aug 8, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews
