Synopsis
France (Catherine Deneuve) is a desperate woman, abandoned at a remote highway rest stop by her tormentor of a husband. Charles (Gérard Depardieu) is a perplexed a man who cannot find a way to fix his broken engine. They meet at a rest area and converse, but things quickly escalate from the cordial to the overly personal, as the lonely Charles fights to understand -- and possibly seduce -- France. Yet, as their relationship progresses, it continually veers from admiration to loathing.
