Synopsis
Katie (Diane Baker) and Johnny Nolan (Cliff Robertson) live in a poor section of Brooklyn with their two children, Francie (Pamelyn Ferdin) and Neely (Michael James Wixted). Katie's a strong-willed housewife, and Johnny is a waiter who's often drunk and out of work. Francie collects junk with her little brother, frequents the library, and yearns for a more textured life -- but the family's mounting problems, including unplanned pregnancies and a scandalous aunt, threaten to tear them apart.
