Critics Consensus

While it may be light on its feet and charming to a fault, A Week Away won't linger in audience's minds for much long after.

Kate Erbland indieWire It's hammy, it's predictable, it's a little silly, but what YA musical isn't? Rated: C Mar 30, 2021 Full Review Amy Nicholson New York Times This is a film as tidy, transparent and kid-friendly as a square of Jell-O salad, and so squishily eager-to-please that it doesn't engage with its religious themes so much as tuck them into song lyrics to hover in the narrative like grapes. Rated: C- Mar 27, 2021 Full Review Guy Lodge Variety This innocuous but character-free tuner shamelessly copies and crosses the formulae of "High School Musical" and "Camp Rock" down to the last, sequel-prompting detail. Mar 26, 2021 Full Review Rebecca Johnson Film Focus Online A Week Away may not be as memorable as the teen musicals that came out of the Disney era due to its pretty niche religious undertone that may not be digestible by all, as well as its corny romances and predictable character disagreements. Rated: 2/5 Aug 6, 2023 Full Review Nicolas Soto But Why Tho? A Geek Community A Week Away is an enjoyable film that didn’t find a way to incorporate a balanced tone to make the premise stand out more. Combining elements from Christian beliefs with the campiness from films like High School Musical is what makes the premise unique Rated: 8/10 Jan 21, 2023 Full Review Hosea Rupprecht Catholic News Service While director Roman White's film, scripted by Kali Bailey and Alan Powell, doesn't get any points for originality, its portrayal of young people trying to find their way in the world with the guidance of caring grown-ups will resonate with its target... Lucas O I liked the movie and I think is a fun idea of Christian camp. It is diffrent and I enjoyed even the songs even I am not religious. Although I couldn't make a conection with the charecters. !Spoiler alert! > (Will lost his parents - How, what happened, there should be some flashback of what happened, little will finding out his parents are gone and social worker taking him to the system. Avery lost her mother too and I honestly felt more conection with her as there was more background but it could have done better.) But we all need to take this as a movie that has been writen for 10-12 year old children and as that I think is enjoyable, fun and really a movie where you don't have to think and just relax.. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review Morgan K 10000/10000 my family loves it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review Jude M Oh why… okay so it was just a cringy love story. Sure it was about going to camp but they didn’t even say Jesus’s name. I can’t recommend this movie with the weird dancing and lip syncing. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review Chris M My kids and I enjoyed the movies. It's a interesting to watch love the songs. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review •Samira Brinca• I honestly disliked it, it is confused, boring, and it was music every 11 seconds, is his a movie o a compilation of christian videoclips?
