Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com A Woman's Work isn't interesting enough formally to get over the fact that it doesn't present much new material after its first ten minutes. Nov 8, 2019 Full Review Nick Schager Variety The central question raised by "A Woman's Work" is articulated, simply, by Pinzone: "Why would a billion-dollar industry do this?" The callous answer, per Yu's persuasive film: because it can. May 2, 2019 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills However you feel about the value of cheerleading (or football, for that matter), this is an engrossing, and maddening, portrait of institutionalized misogyny and injustice. Feb 2, 2021 Full Review Melissa Leon The Daily Beast The new documentary A Woman's Work examines the harassment, ogling, and incredibly low pay NFL cheerleaders receive, and the brave women fighting to change it. Jan 28, 2021 Full Review Lael Loewenstein FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's attractively shot, briskly edited, and overall recommended. Jan 23, 2021 Full Review Neely Swanson Easy Reader (California) A fine documentary... despite a tendency occasionally to veer off point. Jan 21, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Presley B I think this movie was extremely interesting as someone who never thought about how cheerleaders get paid. I think this film highlighted a lot of their toxic work environment and brought good attention to the women that fought for their rights. These talented ladies get too much hate for their line of work. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Gisella K This is by far one of the biggest eye oppening film I watched. It really gave me a new perspective of football games and the team that cheers them on as they play. Watching this film and hearing such heart breaking and disgusting comments from the men who downgrade their hard work and passion for this sport, knowing they also sexualize these women and see them as entertainment really made me realize how cheerleaders deserve more credit and respect for all they go through. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Janesse V When you first think of an NFL Cheerleader, you might assume that they probably receive a huge paycheck. Well, actually you're wrong. In reality, these cheerleader's barely get paid above the minimum wage. Despite the demanding hours they must practice, and flying from game to game. It's all out of their pockets. This film was able to capture this very well, diving us to a life of a cheerleader. It's devastating to see how unfair it is for these cheerleaders. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Javier R The NFL Cheerleader problem film refers back to the legal and social issues surrounding the treatment and compensation of cheerleaders in the National Football League (NFL). Despite being integral to the game-day experience, many NFL cheerleaders are paid low wages, often below minimum wage when factoring in the time spent rehearsing, traveling, and attending mandatory events. This film is meaningful because it sheds light on the broader concerns about gender, labor rights, and fairness in the sports industry. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Carrington M I gave this a 3 because honestly I was not the biggest fan. It proceeded to talk about how sexualized women were, but then showed all these women in revealing clothing. It was a good film to show the cheerleading side of dance and getting the point across that they are heavily underpaid. I just wonder If that could have been conveyed without showing so much skin. These women are definitely making a difference and show the hardships of working in such a feel where you're barely making it to live. I just had some questions on some of the choices from the director. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Annabelle O In the film The NFL Cheerleader Problem by Yu Gu, I was deeply impacted by the film as a whole. I learned about the unequal pay and treatment to all women specifically in sports. After watching the film, I wasn’t really surprised about how the cheerleaders were treated just because this issue about the unequal pay to women has been circulating for quite some time now. It’s really heartbreaking to watch and to learn more about and it is horrible that it hasn’t been resolved yet. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Read all reviews
