While it isn’t as consistently funny as many A&C romps, there are nevertheless many clever bits. Go to Full Review

Surely, this isn't the best of Abbott and Costello, as they've been so much funnier in the past. Go to Full Review

Ted B. @Movieaddicted Nov 16 2.5 stars; The movie relied on the usual Abbott and Costello comedy antics, which were getting old. Boris Karloff does his usual good job of playing Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, his specialty. However, this movie, which was filmed toward the end of the series, did not measure up to the others in the series. "Abbott and Costello Go to Mars" was also filmed in 1953. To meet the schedule demands of making two movies in the same year, resources had to be shared between the films. Both films suffered in the process. In the case of this film, too much was wasted relying on plot gimmicks from previous films. See more CodyZamboni Z Jan 6 Amusing, but not as good as the other monster outings, Karloff is solid, Bud and Lou give their all, but alot of their slapstick gags lack spark, Or fall flat ( ie, when Lou turns into a mouse ) The attractive female lead helps maintain some interest. See more Andrew L 07/26/2024 The second best of The Abbott and Costello Meet The Monster films. Although it isn't on the same level as MEET FRANKENSTEIN, it is better than MEET THE INVISIBLE MAN and far superior to MEET THE MUMMY. Abbott, Costello, and Karloff (as Dr. Jekyll) are a winning trio. See more Chris M 04/04/2023 One of their best films. It's a very funny and well written. But horror comedy needs to be a balance between horror and comedy. "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" had the balance perfectly. This one leans harder on comedy. Which still makes it good. But the balance is a tad off. Plus the Hyde make up is pretty week. But it's still a great movie worth checking out. See more Tim N 11/28/2022 Probably the weakest in the Abbott and Costello monster movies, but still worth a watch. See more 09/13/2021 This 1953 horror comedy is not terrible, but at the same time it's not all that good. The legendary Bud Abbot and Lou Costello do their best in this film as they usually do. As always they have great chemistry on screen. Bud Abbot's clever jokes and one liners help carry this movie. The late Boris Karloff is terrific as usual. The supporting cast is good. Not terrific, but good. While I was not bored by this movie I just think it was rather dull at times. Also, it's basic plot is very predictable. Bud and Lou tell their superiors in the London police force that they know Dr. Henry Jekyll is also the mysterious "monster" killing innocent people. At first nobody believes them and they are laughed at and insulted. Then something happens which proves they were right all along and they are vindicated. Nothing we have not seen before. if you are a fan of the classic comedy team I recommend you see it. However they have done better in this horror comedy genre, specifically "Hold That Ghost" which I think is a much better film. See more Read all reviews
