Audience Member For a HK film, this is truly a rare attempt at nuance and depth in a script that plays up what would otherwise be minor soap plotlines into more meaningful dramatic devices. Every member of the family gets an issue which intersects with each other, ranging from adultery to parenting - the underlying theme that ties it together being the (mis)communication between familial members. An interesting blend of arthouse with mainstream cinema but with varying degree of success, some of the juxtaposition and dialogue could be clunky, pretentious or unrealistic and the fantasy dream sequences are arguably indulgent, even unnecessarily distracting, but they are not totally disruptive. Full marks for effort and attempt, as for the end result, that will depends on how generous you feel: for me, the ensemble cast just about manages to sell it to me with their natural and fearless performances. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I very much like its story lines & message attached, which haven't been seen in HK Cinema for decades. Edmond Pang's personal fantasy projection however kinda ruin this potential quality piece, in my opinion. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member what a heavy-handed, pretentious waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Typical HK style movie showing ordinary lifes of HKers. Not bad and at least better than those which tried to tease you into laughs. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member a deeply affecting family drama spanning generations. with an a-list cast and a superior director, aberdeen beautifully captures and delivers on the imperfectness of human nature. truly a journey of life. a resounding triumph! (= Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Very skilfully-made slice-of-life dramedy that shows great imagination and intimate detail simultaneously. The superb ensemble cast brings real depth to every character. My only complaint is that the middle sags a little. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
