John Anderson Wall Street Journal Ms. Tragos passes no overt judgment; the judgment lies in the juxtaposition of stories, and storytellers. Mar 30, 2017 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com Some stories are among the most resonant I've heard in a documentary this year. Rated: 3/4 Aug 12, 2016 Full Review Helen T. Verongos New York Times What Ms. Tragos succeeds in illustrating is that if you take away the signs and listen to the stories, there is little difference between women on opposite sides of the debate - at least in the region she covers. Aug 11, 2016 Full Review Neely Swanson Easy Reader (California) Told non-judgmentally, all the stories are, in their own way inspirational in their bravery or heart breaking in their reality; sometimes they are both. Sep 15, 2017 Full Review Martha K. Baker KDHX (St. Louis) Abortion: Stories Women Tell is not balanced 50/50, pro/con. Just like the issue of abortion, the documentary and the women embrace a wide range. Aug 28, 2017 Full Review Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat Spirituality & Practice A documentary that honors the ethical complexities of the abortion issue through its presentation of the personal stories of women. Audience Member It's an interesting doc. It's such a touchy topic to discuss, and that's a bit weird considering that the Supreme Court rules in the '70s that this was a legal procedure. Without stating my own opinion on the topic, I want to note that it's interesting how far these Republican states go to make it as difficult as they can for women to get abortions (even in such instances as rape and incest). That's exemplified by the fact that the entire state of Missouri has 1 Planned Parenthood clinic (and it's extremely important to note that PP offers a wide array of services besides abortions). And with a lack of funding, that clinic may have to shutdown too. It's a fascinating topic. And the doc does a good job of showing all points of view.
