Audience Member Another coming of age story but not as amusing as I was looking for. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member âAbout A Girlâ? by Brian Percival is another short film Iâ(TM)d seen recently, and probably actually the best of them all. It has a documentary feel to it, as we are introduced to a teenage girl. As she discusses her life, the conversational scenes are inter-sped with shots of the girl with her father, or mother, or her friends. She sings âStrongerâ? by Britney Spears on several occasions, giving her a more believable teenage persona. As the story continues, she suddenly introduces new elements to the story, suggesting an undercurrent of family abuse and violence as an everyday occurrence, as seen from the eyes of this teenager. She then tells a tale of how she always wanted a dog, but her Mum made her throw it in the nearby creek. This leads to a reveal that I was legitimately shocked by. I had a slight feeling just seconds beforehand, but the reveal was still shocking. The teenager ends her story by singing âStrongerâ? by Britney Spears, with a new connotation to it. The entire story is told light-heartedly, which makes the subtext that more shocking, Ashley Thewlis showing a multi-layered performance that impresses the audience. Very good all round. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Well done in many ways, the ending is too absurd to really capture any of the realism this short film intends. Boooooo! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Very hard hitting short film which will have you in shock by the end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice short film.. interesting Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member What initially appears to be a semi-comedic short about a typicla Britney-loving teenager crossed with the 'Brilliant!' character from the Fast Show turns dark and tragic at the end. A neat little story, impeccably played by Natalie Thewlis (David's daughter?) as the titular girl. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
