What to Know

Critics Consensus

About Last Night will perturb fans of the original stage play by sanding down its pricklier edges, but an amiable cast and sexual frankness make this a pleasantly grounded romantic comedy.

Sheila Benson Los Angeles Times Writers DeClue and Kazurinsky have created a recognizable geography for every age; you suspect that About Last Night will set off pangs of identification everywhere. Le S Expecting an 80s romcom, I was surprised how R Rated this movie is. The language, the situations, based on a David Mamet play, transcend the decade, and culture. Rob Lowe, and Demi Moore, which I thought were cast for their looks, definitively deliver. It's a story about love, and liberty, without the traditional ending. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/17/25 Full Review Mikey B Rob Lowe and Demi Moore try to make a one night stand into a relationship in the 80s. Their friends, Jim Belushi and Elizabeth Perkins (her debut) try their worst to help them on their path. Lowe and Moore are beautiful to look at and do a good acting job. The viewer is pulling for them with every good and bad decision. It is a movie for grown ups that doesnt dumb it down. Belushi and Perkins are good foils for the leads as well. Might be a little dated now but still worth the look Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/11/25 Full Review thiago s Filme mais ou menos, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são mais ou menos, a história é fraca, o elenco é mais ou menos, e alguns ajudam a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, o filme ainda teve um drama que não foi o suficiente para fazer o filme ser bom, e também o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/06/25 Full Review Melissa M To spite the gratuitous use of the f word it's a pretty good film. Jim Belushi as Bernie is definitely the comic relief in this film. Everyone has a friend that is the life of the party or has no filter. He fits the role perfectly. Elizabeth Perkins as Joan is definitely overlooked. She's very snarky & ballsy. Joan can also be level-headed. The chemistry between Rob Lowe and Demi Moore is undeniable. Debbie & Danny's on again off again relationship is captured very well in the film. A lot of people can relate to the pitfalls as well as the honeymoon period Of a relationship. This movie pretty much sums it up. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/17/25 Full Review John A Behold the mid 80's rom-com helmed by the visionary behind the masterpiece 'The Last Samurai'. The cast is quite likable (especially Belushi) yet it is really a product of 1985/86 while the romance stuff is mostly ho hum. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/20/24 Full Review Chris R Besides Belushi's character being dated this film has such a fantastic script – with so much honesty and depth to Rob Lowe and Demi Moore's characters. They're vulnerable, sexy, honest and intelligent while making all the mistakes you'd expect in late 20's relationships. You can't help but feel the emotions. It's so rare to find memorable rom-coms and this has to be one of the decades best. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
