It's really a kids' movie at its heart. And if you watch it with that in mind - as a film made for the Nickelodeon crowd - you'll see that it fills out rather nicely

Lol started watching this think it was the actual Ace Ventura and waited the whole movie for the kid to grow up and Jim Carrey to show up. With about 30 minutes left I was done with the movie and was wondering why one of what people say are Jim Carrey's best movies one of the worst things I've watched ever. Then I looked at the title and saw Jr. next to the title and realised my mistake.
