Set in 1992, against the backdrop of the presidential election between Bush, Clinton, and Perot, a Latina teen enters her senior year with life-long plans to attend Harvard. On a night out with her best friend, she discovers Riot Grrrl, an aggressive feminist punk music, and impulsively drops acid. As she drifts farther and farther from "the plan," she dives into new experiences, exploring her Mexican heritage, defining herself on her own terms, and rebelling against her father's control.

Nathaniel Muir AIPT It checks off all the right boxes, but ironically never sets about leaving its own mark. Acid Test is able to transport audiences to a different time, it just never has the emotional weight the script is aiming for. Alexis R Great first feature from a promising team! Looking forward to their long career. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/15/22 Full Review sirel w The title doesn't really describe it because it actually had more substance than I was expecting and held that throughout the film. I don't want to give it away, but it deals with real issues in a real way that I haven't seen tackled in any dramatic movies that I've seen of this genre. Quite an honest film that is based on a real life situation, quite balanced. I would suggest parents and their teenagers who are about to go to college see this movie (17+). It can set expectations for both and start a good healthy conversation about upcoming separation and the future of their relationship. Enjoy! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review mia r A must see!!! Based on true events. And unforgettable experience. Absolutely fresh look on family matters..Highly recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Rebecca R A must see for anyone who loves a coming of age movie. The actors seem genuine and I love the questions that Jenny (the main character) asks throughout the film as well as the advice given by the teacher and her best friend.Great camera work and editing. The subtle expressions of each character are captured and truly added to my enjoyment. This was my second viewing (I was fortunate to see this at the Austin Film festival). I saw so much more in the film during the second viewing. Can't wait for another film from this writer/director! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/12/22 Full Review carole j Tune in Turn on and Drop out! This film reminds one to stop for a moment and really tune in to oneself and listen to ones soul and not outside people of yourself. . Entertaining thought provoking film. This film is a lot fun!
