Clint E As many critics have declared, Affair in Trinidad is derivative alright but nonetheless entertaining. In my opinion it delivers exactly what it promised in 1952: Rita Hayworth is back-and with her co-star from Gilda. That's right, Glenn Ford makes his fourth appearance with the dazzling Hayworth, who had lost nothing with her four year absence from Hollywood. I like Ford best when he's angry and intense. He's got some good scenes here, but this isn't "The Big Heat." "Trinidad" may have tried to copy and reclaim Gilda's magic, but it really combines Hitchcock's "Notorious and" the Bogie-Bacall vehicle "To Have and Have Not," a Casablanca copy. It isn't Gilda by any stretch, but Hayworth is beautiful, mesmerizing, and, contrary to some opinions, acts pretty well too. Directed by Vincent Sherman, the plot isn't too original but enough to keep you interested. I love the happy ending, and audiences at the time loved the film as well. Recommended to Hayworth and Ford's fans and anyone who enjoys light drama from this era. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review j f 0% rating from "critics"? Not the best movie, but it's good. Got to be top 5 film with 0% from "critics". 4 1/2 stars only because it deserves higher rating. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/01/23 Full Review Tom M Perhaps Hayworth's best performance. Great spy noir, although Ford duller than usual. Moore is adorable as the wise and helpful Trinidadian. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/21 Full Review Audience Member Glenn Ford plays one of his most unlikeable characters. Rita Hayworth is ho-hum. And, the film's (maybe) villain, Alexander Scourby, is unsurprising. Unlikeable, ho-hum and unsurprising. That about describes the entire picture. WW2 ESPIONAGE is the spoiler Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review ashley h Affair in Trinidad is an awesome film. It is about a nightclub singer and her brother-in-law who try to find her husband's killer. Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford give fantastic performances. The screenplay is good but a little slow in places. Vincent Sherman did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama. Affair in Trinidad is a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
