Derek Smith Slant Magazine Director Eric Bross's Affairs of State is a political thriller that plays like an adaptation of a trashy romance novel. Rated: 1/4 Jun 14, 2018 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times In an era when so many indies are either genre exercises or quirky dramedies, a well-acted, ripped-from-the-headlines melodrama is a novelty. Jun 14, 2018 Full Review Luke Y. Thompson Forbes If the movie were self-aware enough to understand its true nature as glorious direct-to-video junk, it would look a whole lot less pretty, but its lurid cheap thrills would be more thrilling and lurid. Aug 14, 2018 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru A gripping, provocative and refreshingly unpredictable political thriller. Rated: 8.474858 Jun 15, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Dave V Good acting. Great plot and had me on the edge of my seat. Really well done!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/10/24 Full Review Audience Member Boring. Predictable peering week plot line. Crazy daughter comes home from boarding school and in three days falls in love with super guy. A little T&A might have actually saved the movie. Other than that the writing was weak. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Affairs of State is a provocative political thriller that's not quite sure where it's going. When an ambitious political aid attempts to sleep his way to the top his affair with a candidate's wife threatens to destroy lives and careers. Unfortunately the film seems to be more concerned with the main character's sexcapades than the political maneuvering and conniving of the campaign. And the political landscape is a little hard to follow, as it tries to avoid labels yet makes allusions to current issues. Also, the cast is rather lackluster (despite featuring Thora Birch and Mimi Rogers). Kind of a mess, Affairs of State is a disappointing film that doesn't quite work. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member It began promising enough, but faded pretty quickly. The ending was predictable and stupid. This was a film with a decent cast and premise. But it ultimately dissolved in stupidity and lost touch with reality. I cannot recommend Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/22/18 Full Review Audience Member AMAZING! They predicted what was coming before it came. You have to watch this twice, AT LEAST. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent show, gripping with a big twist towards the end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
