What to Know

Critics Consensus

It isn't without its share of clichés, but Afflicted proves there's still life in the found-footage horror genre.

Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter There's life yet in the found-footage horror genre. Apr 4, 2014 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com "Afflicted" is as emotionally involving as a really accomplished special-effects sizzle reel. Rated: 2/4 Apr 4, 2014 Full Review Adam Nayman Globe and Mail Runs smack into a number of generic clichs, from the back-and-forth bickering about how to deal with the situation to a lazy underlying misogyny. Rated: 2/4 Apr 4, 2014 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com An entertaining genre film, presenting a handful of scenes to satisfy the gore mongers as well as those seeking a little substance. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 29, 2019 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest Although "Afflicted" is light on truly frightening moments, it compensates with plenty of personality and chill. Nov 22, 2018 Full Review Kiva Reardon Cinema Scope There's no beauty or inspiration in the film's shooting style, and most importantly, no terror. If this is "ingenious" horror filmmaking, as the programme note suggests, get me off this planet. Oct 2, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Vito P It is annoying how "Afflicted" traces its genre without pursuing a real goal. It merely tries to impress with the usual visual tricks and clumsily achieves only a reactionary revenge. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/22/24 Full Review Gunn W Vampires are OK but you add that first person video style? Man, that's way too much pressure for any fan to tolerate both of these. Yeah, it's a bit cheezy - I guess they liked it that way? Not not the worst thing I've seen.... It had some good moments, mostly just what you would expect moments. RECOMMENDATION: If you can find/watch for free, I'd recommend. Otherwise; don't pay money for it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/05/24 Full Review Mortal If you are a fun of the found-footage genre, you should watch this one as well. The plot is pretty straight-forward , nothing special but the directing of the film is pretty good and realistic. I just believe that it could be a lot better plot wise. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/09/24 Full Review Audience Member Rating: 7/10. 78/100 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Hugo I usually don't like found footage horror movies. But this one is actually quite entertaining. It will certainly be a delight for the fans of the genre. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/04/22 Full Review robert p Normally, I am not a fan of found footage films, but in this case the movie was good, I would recommend to see this movie, because the acting is great and Mr. Lee who plays the main character in this movie, is as professional as can be and he collected the money from his relatives and friends to make this movie, thus my rating of *3 & 1/2* stars!!!!
