Audience Member Moments of genuine brilliance, insight, and pathos that rings unfulfilling when juxtaposed w the directors own crumbling nuptials. Its a doc seen on PBS showing interviews of several lasting marriage partners for their take on what made their commitment last. Great stuff here - vulnerable and telling advice, yet without the happy ending. You can't help thinking that it doesnt directly address the pink elephant in the room - the filmmaking couples troubled individualization, and what it would take to fix their personal mess. Anyone who has been thru a divorce, or ever been close to one, knows this frustrating pain of sadly and helplessly watching the doom approach. This film only dredged up that past for me, offering nothing new. I enjoyed hearing how those who stuck it out used coping skills and tell wonderful anecdotes, but the sour note ending left me empty. Not a good way to finish a film, could have been handled so much better. 3 of 5 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
