Vividly scored and mouth watering to look at 'Ága' doesn't have much on the page (maybe a handful of pages of dialogue), but it makes up for it in scintillating beauty. Does it overcome the imbalance? That will be up to you in this Bulgarian drama film. It's soft and subtle and full of nuance, but the finish just didn't connect with me. There wasn't enough charter development for me to care about the ending and that's why it's a firmly on the fence feeling of a film possibly didn't need subtitles or dialogue to get a similar if not better result. Final Score: 6.2/10

Good acting, beautiful scenery, but I feel it lacked important storytelling elements. Instead it's focus is mainly on nice landscape shot. Nevertheless, after the essentially non-existent 2nd act, the end provided a nice theme, and a sad conclusion. 3/5 *.

Beautifully filmed, authentic performances and a director who allowed the landscape and physical performances to tell a great deal of the emotional story of reindeer herders whose children have drifted away, who see the end of their way of life, and who prepare for that end with nobility and grace.
