Audience Member The first catastrophe movie shot in the Soviet Union! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is probably unique, as it is (as far as I know anyway) the only Soviet disaster movie made. According to Wikipedia, the film was inspired from the then very popular disaster/flight movies of Hollywood. This one however, includes a typical Russian "touch" with great portraits of the characters, morale questions and an almost epic dramaturgy. It is cool indeed, and the effects are at some points astounding, given the production team’s relatively small resources (and no CGI) to work with. I read that some scenes had to be shot in an airplane cemetery. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member (** 1/2): I didn't hate it but I just felt that it was more of a Russian soap opera than a disaster flick (it takes awhile for the disaster to even occur). Good cast but the runtime should have been condensed. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
