In 1930s Sweden, 6-year-old Ake (Martin Lindstrom) spends his days observing his doctor father (Loa Falkman) ministering to patients. While he faces the unique challenges of growing up, Ake also has a rich fantasy life that supplies him with a whimsical perspective on his life. His daydreaming certainly comes into play when he plays a cruel trick on another boy and is riddled by feelings of guilt.
