We see some beautiful people in a dreary town doing a lot of acting, but without actually immersing us in any semblance of authenticity. Go to Full Review

Overall it's a cute film that loses steam in the midsection, as it does veer a little too much into melodramatic territory that never quite figures out how to ground itself. Go to Full Review

If you're starved for some queer film and have a few bucks to drop on a rental, this isn't a bad way to go. Go to Full Review

Akron, the minimalistic yet affecting indie drama, is titled after the fifth largest city in Ohio, which is of course the setting of this poignant little film about family, young love and ghosts from the past. Go to Full Review

Though talent is clearly evident, Akron's writing is unfortunately offset by the flow of its direction. Go to Full Review

The best and worst thing about the movie is that you could probably change Benny and Christopher to a heterosexual couple and not have to change a single line of the screenplay. Go to Full Review

Scott S @Scott35264 7h I disagree with some of the negative reviews. Yes, the ending should've been longer. I was surprised it ended so abruptly. Not that we'll get one, but, the ending left an opening for "Akron 2", where Christopher's mother could be invited back to Benny's house for dinner. All in all, I loved it!! Both Benny's and Christopher's parts were played extremely well. Both actors were super-attractive which created the intimacy and tenderness, and the hotness of their "sex" scenes as well. For being straight, Edmund Donovan, who played Christopher, did a great job of coming across as genuinely caring and truly sensuous. Matthew Frias, who played Benny, is gay in real life which allowed him to (I'm assuming) slip into his character role easily. I'm quite sure he would've helped put Edmund more at ease just by interacting with each other on set. The ladies played their parts good as well. This is a must watch category for both gay and straight audiences. To me, it was a job well done!! See more Terrance M @RT81989043 Nov 7 Good movie but the ending definitely could’ve been longer. See more Fred H @RT65576029 12/03/2024 The story of Benny and Christopher is touching, especially as their families navigate a shared tragedy and learn to accept their relationship. While the acting isn’t exceptional, it doesn’t detract from the emotional impact of the story. The film excels in portraying the quiet beauty of connection and reconciliation, making it a poignant and worthwhile watch. Def deserve a watch. See more Philip W @RT29532073 09/01/2024 Beautiful people with beautiful small-town lives until... Nicely written, with some gaps in the stream of consciousness. The storyline is obvious, which is usually a bad thing but not in this case. It's as if the author respects us to not be formulaic. More like a Hallmark Channel presentation. See more Chris N @chr1sn0rth 07/27/2023 It worked for a while. But the handbrake turn in the last five minutes didn't work on any level: that ending needed another 20 minutes to pull off. See more Marcelo F @Binho 05/21/2023 Maravilhoso 10/10. Um roteiro que nos paralisa para ver o encaminhar da história. See more Read all reviews
