Ben Turner The Pink Lens We see some beautiful people in a dreary town doing a lot of acting, but without actually immersing us in any semblance of authenticity. Rated: 3/5 Sep 2, 2021 Full Review Amanda Jane Stern Film Inquiry Overall it's a cute film that loses steam in the midsection, as it does veer a little too much into melodramatic territory that never quite figures out how to ground itself. Feb 23, 2021 Full Review Leigh Monson Substream Magazine If you're starved for some queer film and have a few bucks to drop on a rental, this isn't a bad way to go. Rated: 3/5 Sep 24, 2020 Full Review Alexander Ryll Gay Essential Akron, the minimalistic yet affecting indie drama, is titled after the fifth largest city in Ohio, which is of course the setting of this poignant little film about family, young love and ghosts from the past. Rated: 3/5 Sep 15, 2019 Full Review Cameron Ward One Room With A View Though talent is clearly evident, Akron's writing is unfortunately offset by the flow of its direction. Rated: 2/5 Apr 4, 2019 Full Review Kenneth R. Morefield 1More Film Blog The best and worst thing about the movie is that you could probably change Benny and Christopher to a heterosexual couple and not have to change a single line of the screenplay. Philip W Beautiful people with beautiful small-town lives until... Nicely written, with some gaps in the stream of consciousness. The storyline is obvious, which is usually a bad thing but not in this case. It's as if the author respects us to not be formulaic. More like a Hallmark Channel presentation. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/01/24 Full Review J G I liked the story. Thought it was very well done for a small studio production Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/16/23 Full Review PridePosterStudios Sure, the main source of conflict has nothing to do with the main couples’ homosexuality…but the actual cause for complications is just…ludicrous. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/24/24 Full Review Chris N It worked for a while. But the handbrake turn in the last five minutes didn't work on any level: that ending needed another 20 minutes to pull off. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/27/23 Full Review Marcelo F Maravilhoso 10/10. Um roteiro que nos paralisa para ver o encaminhar da história. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review Bill R One of the best gay movies I've seen - authentic, real, and truly reflective of gay coupe dynamics Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
