Akron, the minimalistic yet affecting indie drama, is titled after the fifth largest city in Ohio, which is of course the setting of this poignant little film about family, young love and ghosts from the past.

The best and worst thing about the movie is that you could probably change Benny and Christopher to a heterosexual couple and not have to change a single line of the screenplay.

The story of Benny and Christopher is touching, especially as their families navigate a shared tragedy and learn to accept their relationship. While the acting isn’t exceptional, it doesn’t detract from the emotional impact of the story. The film excels in portraying the quiet beauty of connection and reconciliation, making it a poignant and worthwhile watch. Def deserve a watch.

Beautiful people with beautiful small-town lives until... Nicely written, with some gaps in the stream of consciousness. The storyline is obvious, which is usually a bad thing but not in this case. It's as if the author respects us to not be formulaic. More like a Hallmark Channel presentation.

Sure, the main source of conflict has nothing to do with the main couples’ homosexuality…but the actual cause for complications is just…ludicrous.

It worked for a while. But the handbrake turn in the last five minutes didn't work on any level: that ending needed another 20 minutes to pull off.
