Clyde Gilmour Maclean's Magazine Rod Steiger plausibly portrays the late unlamented Chicago gang-lord in an interesting semi-fictional melodrama, corny in spots but no cornier than the Prohibition era it represents. Nov 11, 2019 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Rod Steiger gives his Method acting technique a workout as he captures the fiery persona of Al Capone and makes the gangster a lively larger-than-life subject. Scott W I liked the movie. Wish it was better, but Rod S. did ok I thought. Fairly well done IMO Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/22 Full Review Audience Member Kudos to Rod Steiger who refused to play the title role until the script deglamorized Capone the violent racketeer who ruled Chicago in the 1920s and 30s. But, the film's depiction of Capone's rise to power isn't nearly as interesting as his relationship with girlfriend Maureen Flannery (Fay Spain). Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked the movie . Wish it was better but Rod S. did ok I thought. Quite a story .
