Filmmaker Seiichi Motohashi follows his earlier documentary "Nadja's Village" with another true story of life in the former Soviet Union following the tragedy of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. Nearly 200 kilometers downwind from the maimed nuclear plant, the tiny village of Budische was evacuated but for several dozen elderly residents and one teenager, Alexei, who wished to stay with his family. Now in his 30s, Alexei narrates scenes of everyday life in his impoverished, slowly dying village.
