Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint Scott slowly draws you into Getty's world, ensconced in his mansion. That's the story that wants telling. The one we get is a technically rich, beautifully styled, decently performed and moderately interesting spectacle. Jul 29, 2019 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express [Ridley] Scott is a little distant in the way he observes his characters and their dilemmas. The young boy is in mortal danger all through... but your heart is not as much in your mouth as it should be. Still, the film nails the time and place. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 25, 2019 Full Review Robert Daniels 812filmreviews Getty could have easily been a shrill cold piece of shit. Instead, Plummer brings a warmness to the role. Rated: 3/4 Aug 27, 2018 Full Review Peter Bell Vague Visages Overall, All the Money in the World is a finely made crime caper that suggests Ridley Scott and Christopher Plummer remain in their prime. Jun 22, 2023 Full Review Jonny Mahon-Heap Stuff.co.nz It's a rollicking thriller through the worlds of oil tycoons, retired FBI agents and the moneyed masses of '70s Italy. Oct 7, 2022 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies Perhaps the biggest reason “All the Money” works is because Ridley Scott steps out of the way and puts his full trust in his actors and the script. Korra N A much more subdued Ridley Scott film, All the Money in the World is a gripping and intense thriller that showcases incredible performances alongside Scott's signature scopic production design. Instead of feeling massive in scale like many of Scott's films though, this is more akin to Spielberg's Munich in its restraint. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Peter G A generally exciting & rewarding film from Ridley Scott. His track record, for me anyway, is a bit uneven but this, true story dealing with John Paul the thirds addiction, turns out to be one of his better efforts. Plummer does a superb job replacing Kevin Spacey at pretty much the last minute due to the sexual scandal that prompted Scott to replace him. Playing the aging & unsympathetic John Paul Getty with so much nuance on short notice was quite a challenge which Plummer rose to with great success. Michelle Williams matches him as the determined mother of Getty‘s kidnapped grandson. Worth seeing with a minimal amount of a fictional indulgence. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/23/24 Full Review Shioka O Based on the true story and the people, this film is technically over the top directed by the skilful Ridley Scott. So much potential to tell about this family in a form of film, and I think this film achieved some point and dramatised the fact very well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Alec C How can someone to have so much money, yet won't spare it for the people they love?! As a wealthy billionaire's nephew is kidnapped and held for ransom, the miserly man won't part with a single penny, spurring the boys mother and a former CIA operative to try to save the boy before it's too late. Based on the true life kidnapping, this film explores the difference between material wealth and parental love which are both powerful motivators of the initiated! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/25/24 Full Review Kathryn V I watched the series with Donald Sutherland. I was 19 in 1973 never heard this. Although I did know who Getty was, oil. Immediately after watching the series, I watched this movie. Nether one, really true story. Based on true events. I go to Wkepedia. Very interesting and sad I thought. Actually this movie said at the end, things were changed to give it more drama. Drama??? The real drama is that kid being in acave for 5 months, plied with alcohol for pain and to stay warm because his grandfather was a sad excuse for a human, so says Wikepedia. Oh im suppose to be reviewing the movie. I gave it 4 stars, pretty good. The young actor Plummer, didnt have very many lines though. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review Alec B Gorgeous to look at but without a compelling narrative or themes, which is shame because the actual true story is filled with potential. Perhaps if Scott had narrowed the focus this might have worked. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
