All You Need Is Death tends to stay in placeless urban settings and abandoned institutional buildings in anonymous edgelands. It is all the better for ringing the changes on those tropes. Go to Full Review

Duane doesn’t so much direct this film as he orchestrates it, and something about its ethereal beats render it a movie that you feel in an almost visceral way as much as you process intellectually Go to Full Review

All You Need Is Death, craggy and rough-edged, may be in constant conversation with the distant past, but it also puts up signposts to the future Go to Full Review

to be commended for not spoon-feeding the audience come the final denouement. If you’re looking for something to pick away at long after the credits have rolled, this may tickle you in the right spot. Everyone else might be left wanting. Go to Full Review

Folktales and folk music are imprinted with powers that ought to be unlocked more often, at least when with the intensity that Duane commands. Go to Full Review

Claudio C @Claudio666 May 28 All You Need Is Death (2023) Awful and Senseless (11,724 – 27 May 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) Sometimes the viewer sees a movie with great expectation to learn the culture of a country. That was my intention when I read the synopsis of “All You Need Is Death” (2023) since the story takes place in Ireland. The beginning is strange, but also intriguing, with a young couple researching folkloric songs in the countryside of Ireland. Until the moment they find Rita Concannon, performed by Olwen Fouéré, the plot is weird but makes sense. When Agnes secretly records the mysterious song with a hidden tape recorder, and Aleks stops her with his car on, the plot is a complete mess. Hard to understand how producers inject their money in such messy story. Don’t the producers have people to read the screenplay before investing money and foreseeing that the film is confused and senseless and will not work? My vote is two. Title (Brazil): “A Canção da Morte” (“The Song of the Death”) My Blog: https://maniacosporfilme.wordpress.com/ See more Blank N May 23 I really am surprised there are no ratings or reviews . I stumbled upon it by accident, didn’t look it up prior to watching, which is unusual. It’s solid in all movie metrics, thoughtful, and exciting. Probably will rewatch at some point since I’m ill rn and don’t know if I missed some nuances. I’m sure it’ll hold up to a second viewing. See more Read all reviews
