In the year 20XX, a huge and mysterious flower called "Darol" suddenly appears in Japan. Volunteers like Rita, a resourceful but lonely young woman who does not fit in with her peers, are dispatched to help clean up and rebuild. But one day, Darol suddenly emits a deafening signal, and its surrounding fruit bursts, revealing hordes of creatures that quickly slaughter everyone. Rita makes a valiant attempt to escape but dies in the attempt. Then... she wakes up again, only to witness the same tragedy. And again. Stuck in an inexplicable time loop, Rita struggles until she meets Keiji, a shy young man who is also experiencing the loop alongside her. Studio 4°C remains the best reason to see 'All You Need is Kill’; the animators pack so many enriching details into their adaptation that even the most incidental scene feels consequential. Go to Full Review

When the film moves away from the purposely repetitive action beats that the animation stales pretty quickly, the focus on Rita as an individual going through an existential crisis of meaning is momentarily interesting, but its merely a moment. Go to Full Review

Despite attempting to separate itself from Edge of Tomorrow, the anime film All You Need Is Kill is a weaker, forgettable comparison point to the 2014 sci-fi flick. Go to Full Review

See more Jullian 1d A trippy and terrifying apocalyptic scenario. Realistic characters, grounded but staggered or running from the painful past, with uncertain hope for tomorrow. See more MS 1d I liked the animation, style, artwork but story was okay. See more JD 2d Great show. Superb, stylish animation. Different but complimentary take on "Live Die Repeat". Enjoyed greatly! See more Anthony P 2d It's a god damn acid trip. Wide eyed and staring at the screen with tremendous daze. It's an absolute mindfuck. See more Read all reviews
