Justin T This one tried to copy the first but did not succeed on any level. Even stealing footage from the first didn't work. The story is stolen from the first (maverick cop tries to stop mutated alligator) but sucks because the only way that they tried to make the alligator more scary was to make it invincible but still end up killing it in the same way that they had been trying all throughout the film. No surprises in the story. The acting sucks, the direction rubbish, the action/violence badly executed and the story is just shockingly bad. It's sometimes hard to tell what is going on. I really don't see any reason to watch this garbage - even if you have seen the first film. Total rubbish! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review Audience Member Huge step down in quality from the first, but most of that is due to the vanilla lead. Well that and the shoddy effects. It was fun watching Richard Lynch and his goons try to take down the Alligator, but there just wasn't enough of that. If the movie had made those guys the focus, this would've been a much stronger follow-up Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/14/22 Full Review Audience Member 1991: A greedy business owner, with the wimpy mayor in his back pocket, is buying land around a lake for his own greedy purposes, but little does he know that toxic substances being dumped into the lake has spawned a giant killer alligator. Two cops, not in good standing with the police chief, and a renowned alligator hunter are sent into the lake and its sewers to get rid of it, OK sequel that improves as the movie progresses, but nowhere near the fun or the quality of the original "Alligator" (1980). Good cast does more for the movie than the movie does for them. Stars: Joseph Bologna, Dee Wallace Stone, Richard Lynch, Woody Brown, Bill Dailey (Daily), Steve Railsback, and Brock Peters. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Not so much a sequel as a parallel almost-remake. Alligator 2: The Mutation isn't as bad as I was expecting it to be, but given that I'd literally just watched the entire thing done better in every way only a few hours earlier in the first Alligator, it isn't exactly a success either. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Big step down from the charming original Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The only thing worse than the implausible script with endless stock characters is the awful alligator effects Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
