The house needs repairs, she meets a contractor and he agrees to help. She turns her passion for mahjong into a teaching career. Paul Campbell is Ben and Fiona Gubelmann is Ronni, great believable chemistry; their performances elevate the film & keep you engaged. Although the film explains the HISTORY of mahjong, viewers who haven't played are left with questions. Some have maligned the film for not featuring Chinese American actors more prominently since the game's roots are in China. But anyone can learn & enjoy the game! An analogy--thats like saying a film involving pizza, since modern pizza originated in Naples, Italy, during the 18th & 19th centuries, so predominantly Italian American actors must be featured, which many would say would be absurd considering pizza is ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR FOODS WORLDWIDE!
