Critics Consensus

A sorry swan song for the talented Chris Farley, Almost Heroes is a directionless comedy that doesn't even come close to triumph.

Since this movie is directed by Christopher Guest and stars Chris Farley, Matthew Perry, and Eugene Levy, you would think it should be comedy gold. But it isn’t. And so I have to put the blame on the writing. The jokes are telegraphed far in advance and, in their exploration for humor, they always seem to take the low road. In addition, it feels like some of the story and dialogue were made up on the spot. There are moments when Almost Heroes is almost funny, but for the most part this comedy feels like a long journey filled with unfulfilled potential. It’s a silly movie with funny one liners. Cris Farley fans will like it. Worth watching agin! See more Alia D Mar 15 This movie is truly an American treasure, and a must see. Dumb people, in dumb situations, doing dumb things makes the funniest movie. I find my self quoting almost heros almost constantly and it is easily my favorite movie. Great to watch with the family or share with friends. Deserves to be a true cult clasic. See more Read all reviews
