r96 s 'Aloevera' has a great concept and lovely set design, I just don't believe there is enough to it to justify a feature-length flick; its got short film written all over it. Aaron Adatsi and Alexandra Ayirebi-Acquah are decent leads, Kofi Adjorlolo and Benjamin Adaletey are well cast too. As noted, the idea (and commentary) is good and visually the movie does look the part. However, the plot very quickly becomes repetitive and slow paced, it does end fairly solidly but not to the point that it makes all that preceded it watchable. It is pleasant to look at though, Wes Anderson-esque. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/02/25 Full Review Audience Member Refreshingly unique and beautiful. Balanced comedic moments interspersed throughout. The actors were engaging and able to transmits so much through much stony glares and outraged posturing along with the verbal rebukes and warnings. Joy to watch. Love the vibrancy of this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Alex A Such a beautifully observed parable, with beautiful lighting & lightness that in parts was simply joyful. Loved the comedic timing and the culturally anchored humour, which gave the story a sense of authenticity. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
