A cautionary tale about the importance of actors putting something away for the future so they don't have to keep working on humiliating tripe well past their prime. Go to Full Review

Test T @TestTest1 09/10/2024 I watched this on DVD recently, where it was titled 'Along For The Ride'. Some of the scenes are light, fun and enjoyable to watch, but there are other scenes which are very slow, dull and tedious. The story is ok, the cast are accomplished performers, and it has a good soundtrack, so the basics are covered. The problem is that the movie seems uncertain about what it is trying to achieve. I would have liked it to have been an upbeat 80's road trip romantic comedy which at times it is, but there are strong mental health and relationship themes throughout which prevent it from being this, and force a more serious tone. These themes eventually expand to consume the entire movie spoiling the chemistry established between the characters in the lighter scenes. It feels conflicted, and at times it gets really melodramatic, like a low budget daytime soap opera. If these scenes had been contained, the movie would have been more concise and benifited from a shorter run time. As it is, I liked about 20% of this film which is just not enough to recommend it. See more 04/25/2013 This was so good I don't know why people say it isn't good. See more 08/27/2012 A movie from 2000 that is very good. See more 08/19/2012 People don't want to feel. They want to be entertained. A happily married television series writer is inauspiciously contacted by his schizophrenic ex-girlfriend from college. She tells him a tale of their son, that he never met, and giving their son up for adoption. The ex-girlfriend and writer head out on a mission to find their son. The writer's wife, skeptical of the ex-girlfriend's motives, follows them and gets into her own trouble. "Are you giving somebody a blowjob? You're not! Well, thank goodness." John Kaye delivers Forever Lulu in his only directorial picture. The storyline for this movie was better than I anticipated and I found the characters fascinating. The acting wasn't perfect or particularly great but the character development was still very good. The cast delivers mediocre performances and includes Patrick Swayze, Melanie Griffith, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lee Garlington, and Penelope Ann Miller. "For awhile we were so close that we only had one heart." I have been DVRing Joseph Gordon-Levitt pictures lately and decided to give this picture a shot. I actually really liked this film for the most part. The performances do not make the film, but the storyline is very good and it is definitely fun to watch the film unfold. I recommend giving this film a shot. "Give me the razor." Grade: C+/B- (6.5) See more Read all reviews
