Alhan A I first saw Along the Way when I was around nine or ten years old on some random TV channel in Kuwait. I didn’t know what it was called, who made it, or why it aired there, but it left a mark on me. For over twenty years I remembered fragments like four friends, a wild night, and an image of someone with their arms in the air, and I could never find it again. I searched for years, asked people, even online forums, and no one could help me. Then after the actor who played Kurt in Good Burger passed away, I was reading about his filmography and noticed his last movie was Along the Way. I looked up the poster and instantly recognized that scene I had carried in my head for decades. It was the same movie. Rewatching it now, I can admit it is not a perfect film. It feels like a product of its time, rough around the edges, but there is something deeply human about it. It captures a kind of restless energy and lostness that only early 2000s indie films had. For me, it is not just a movie; it is a time capsule, a piece of my childhood memory that somehow found its way back to me after twenty three years. I’m not sure if it shaped me to be the person I am today, as I did watch way too many films as a young girl, but it sure stuck with me. They said it was Gen-X’s nod to Stand By Me, and as a millennial, I sort of agree. I do not believe this was a coincidence. It feels like a quiet little sign from the universe, a reminder that some things we are meant to remember will always find their way back, even if it takes a lifetime. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Very well done, but this is why having boys terrifies me. They can make such stupid decisions.
