Over one day across the streets of L.A., three lives will change forever. In this breakneck thriller from director-producer Michael Bay, decorated veteran Will Sharp (Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Candyman, The Matrix Resurrections), desperate for money to cover his wife's medical bills, asks for help from the one person he knows he shouldn't--his adoptive brother Danny (Oscar® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal, Zodiac, Spider-Man: Far From Home). A charismatic career criminal, Danny instead offers him a score: the biggest bank heist in Los Angeles history: $32 million. With his wife's survival on the line, Will can't say no. But when their getaway goes spectacularly wrong, the desperate brothers hijack an ambulance with a wounded cop clinging to life and ace EMT Cam Thompson (Eiza González, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Baby Driver) onboard. In a high-speed pursuit that never stops, Will and Danny must evade a massive, city-wide law enforcement response, keep their hostages alive, and somehow try not to kill each other, all while executing the most insane escape L.A. has ever seen.

David Stratton The Australian An ugly approach to cinema. Rated: 1.5/5 Jul 26, 2022 Full Review Todd Gilchrist AV Club The Ambulance almost immediately exceeds its intended scale, turning what should be a lean and mean retrograde high-concept hostage situation into a sprawling, geographically incomprehensible tour of one of the most gridlocked cities in the United States. Rated: C- Jun 22, 2022 Full Review Jason Bailey The Playlist Bay still knows how to shoot movie stars like movie stars... Gyllenhaal looks hot, makes a convincing crook, and is clearly having a great time; in the early, rougher passages, his verve and manic energy almost single-handedly keeps the picture afloat. Rated: B May 13, 2022 Full Review Brittany Patrice Witherspoon Pop Culture Reviews Pair the humor and chaos with a compelling emotional angle, and you’ve got yourself a good and balanced time at the movies. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 23, 2024 Full Review Shakyl Lambert CGMagazine However, the stars shine brightest on Jake Gyllenhaal, who is clearly having the time of his life. Rated: 8/10 Jul 12, 2024 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia It has a fast-paced start that can be felt from the action-packed first half, but, unfortunately, in its wake of chases it loses speed when crossing predictable highways that are marked with clichés and conventional characters. Brandon Richardson I'm not huge on Michael Bay films but I found this one solidly entertaining. The performances were amazing and the visuals were fantastic. My main problem was the cinematography. It had some excellent drone shots, but ultimately the tight close-ups were very shaky and at some points made me nauseous. Movie-goers looking for explosions and destruction are going to love this movie. As a solid thriller/drama, however, this wouldn't be my first choice. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/11/22 Full Review Heaven W It started off pretty chaotic, especially with the classic Michael Bay camera angles, but once the plot kicked up, it was a giant rush of adrenaline all the way through. The ending is pretty predictable, but it was still a thrill to see it all unfold. Definite 8/10.
