Roxanne M Who cares if the movie was full of bad acting or incorrect speech patterns. The fact is the guy was a cold, calculating, manipulative murderer. I pray he never gets out of prison. The odds are he’ll kill again or find another weak woman to do it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/02/25 Full Review Audience Member Besides the bad script and direction, so much about how Amish culture is depicted is wrong. When Amish speak English, they have a specific accent because of the German home language. There isn’t even an attempt at this. Unmarried men don’t have a beard and yet Eli has one before he’s married. After marriage the beard isn’t cut or trimmed up but the beards are trim. All boys and men have a stereotypical haircut which isn’t evident in the movie. The haircuts are mostly English. The women’s eyebrows are sculpted and you can see eye liner, mascara, and lipstick. I could go on. It’s a bad movie but that makes it a fun watch if you are in on it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review Chris M Terrible acting. You can feel how uncomfortable the cast is with each other and with the story line. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. I'm glad I only wasted 15 minutes on this. I can't understand how they even released this. 😪 No wonder it was aired early on a Sunday morning. Which is sad since the story line has many aspects of the abuses that are hidden behind a pious religion. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/25/24 Full Review Jeff M When I came across this title, I immediately hit the play button - no questions asked. When I realized it was a Lifetime Television Movie Event, I became almost giddy. And I'm happy to report that, yes, it's just as wonderfully bad as the title would suggest. It's so unintentionally laughable that I almost began to wonder if the people at Lifetime developed a sense of humor, and this was some kind of NAKED GUN-type spoof. MacFarlane actually elicits more laughs here than he did in his truly comic performance in BROS. Vangsness has re-defined my thoughts about bad acting for decades to come. Amazingly, this is based on a true story, and in the right hands, it could have been very interesting. I mean, how many stories are there about a horny Amish guy who dates online as the Amish Stud? The epilogue states that Eli Weaver is eligible for parole in 2024 - the first thing he needs to do when he is released is sue the filmmakers for gross ineptitude. This has immediately been placed on my pantheon of hilariously bad movies list.
